Deadheads, this one hit right in the heart.
As Dead & Company wrapped up a soul-stirring three-day celebration of Grateful Deadâs legacy, fans were treated to an unforgettable surprise: Grahame Lesh, son of founding bassist Phil Lesh, took the stage, cradling his fatherâs legendary âBig Brownâ bass and delivered a set steeped in love, history, and pure musical magic.

The emotional peak came with a heartfelt performance of âBox of Rain,â a deep-cut gem thatâs long been a fan favorite and a fitting tribute since Phil Leshâs passing last October. The setlist only grew richer from there, with Grahame joining the band for âPlaying in the Bandâ and âCumberland Blues,â sending chills through the crowd at Golden Gate Parkâs Polo Field.
The weekend, dubbed Dead 60, kicked off on a meaningful note, what would have been Jerry Garciaâs 83rd birthday. And in true Dead fashion, night one closed with a soul-shaking encore of Bob Dylanâs âKnockinâ on Heavenâs Doorâ a tender nod to the bandâs late frontman and his enduring spirit.
